International Student Scholarships in Australia

  1. The Australian National University (ANU)

ANU Chancellor’s International Scholarship

Level of study: Any eligible program except Doctor Of Medicine and Surgery (MChD) and Master Of Military and Defence Studies.

Scholarship value:

The scholarship will award a tuition fee reduction of 25% or 50% to eligible students as outlined above.

The tuition fee reduction is applied to three years of study for undergraduate recipients and up to two years of study for postgraduate recipients.

Additionally, as a recipient of the ANU Chancellor’s International Scholarship, you are allowed to pay a reduced tuition deposit of AUD 10,000 instead of the standard deposit amount listed on your admissions offer letter.

Application periods: 1 July 2021 – 15 May 2022. Scholarship offers for Semester 2 2022 will be released starting in February 2022.

Eligibility:

1) These scholarships are distributed into 7 categories. Applicants will be automatically assessed in the following categories based on their citizenship.

2) The scholarship is available to a prospective ANU applicant who: 

  • is defined as an overseas student under the terms of the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 and does not hold a 995 visa (unless enrolling in an eligible postgraduate program); and
  • has received an offer of admission to commence at the University in 2022 in an eligible program (excluded programs are listed above); and
  • meets the conditions of the program for which they have received an offer of admission including the requirement to be onshore for some components (if applicable); and
  • has not received the scholarship previously.

2. The University of Melbourne

Melbourne Welcome Grant

Level of study: International students in all study areas

Scholarship value:

This grant provides a one-off payment of $4,000.

Students who start a new course in 2022 will receive the grant payment after the census date of their first semester of enrolment. Students who started their course before 2022 and are continuing their enrolment in 2022, will receive the grant payment on the grant payment within 2 weeks after approval of their application.

Payments can only be made to an Australian bank account held in your name.

Application periods: 1 December 2021 – 31 December 2022.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • be an international student enrolled in coursework or research course (excluding non-award programs, such as exchange or study abroad programs) with the University of Melbourne in 2022
  • not have departed Australia on or after the start of Semester 2, 2021 (26 July 2021)
  • have arrived in Australia after 1 December 2021

You  must not  have previously received a Student Travel Grant or Melbourne Welcome Grant towards the cost of travel, quarantine and adjustment to study and life in Melbourne.

This grant will be offered to all eligible candidates who have not received a Melbourne Welcome Grant or Student Travel Grant.

3. UNSW Sydney

UNSW Scholarships for International Students Commencing Term 2, 2022

* SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS THAT REQUIRE AN APPLICATION

Level of study: International undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students commencing full-time study at UNSW.

Scholarship value: Some scholarships will provide a full or partial tuition fee payment.

Application periods: Applications will open on 1 January 2022 and will close at 11:59PM AEST Thursday, 31 March 2022.

Eligibility:

1)Applicants must have received an offer of admission* into an eligible program for Term 2 2022 by 31 March 2022.

*Offers of admission must be one of the following:

  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate Letter of Offer (unconditional)
  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate Conditional English Package Offer (UEEC) – students must be enrolled in the UNSW Institute of Languages and successfully complete the program prior to commencing in Term 2 2022.

2)Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:

  • Academic merit
  • Leadership skills (school, workplace or community)
  • Extra-curricular activities (sporting, cultural activities, volunteer/work experience)
  • Reasons for undertaking studies at UNSW

4. The University of Newcastle Australia

China Excellence Scholarship

Level of study: Students will receive notification of the value of their scholarship with their offer.

Quota programs excluded from this scholarship are:

  • Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Honours) (Diagnostic Radiography)
  • Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Honours) (Nuclear Medicine)
  • Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Honours) (Radiation Therapy)
  • Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine
  • Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Podiatry.

Scholarship value: $10,000 for one year of study of full-time study load (80 units).

Eligibility:

  • Hold a passport from the People’s Republic of China.
  • Be commencing your first program of study at the University in the current intake.
  • Be commencing study in an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program at the University (excluding ELICOS, Enabling, Non-Award, Higher Degrees by Research programs and programs delivered at offshore campuses).
  • Be an International full-fee paying student.
  • Be commencing in an eligible program at an Australian or Online campus as indicated in your Letter of Offer.
  • Not be the beneficiary of a separate University scholarship unless prior approval for special dispensation has been obtained from the university.
  • Meet all of the financial obligations of a full-fee paying international student, including the full tuition fee and other expenses for the purpose of obtaining your student visa, and in the event that eligibility for the scholarship is not maintained.
  • Not be enrolling in an excluded quota program (see selection details).

Start from Home Fee Waiver

The university offers international students who cannot commence their study in Australia due to border closures a tuition fee waiver of 10% – 20%. NO ANY REQUIREMENTS for GPA or ATAR.

Onshore Excellence Scholarship

Scholarship value: The scholarship will provide AU$10,000 for each year of study under full-time study. No application is required for this scholarship.

Eligibility:

  • Be an Onshore student currently located in Australia.
  • Be commencing study in an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program at the University (excluding ELICOS, Enabling, Non-Award, Higher Degrees by Research programs and programs delivered at offshore campuses).
  • Be an International full-fee paying student.
  • Be commencing in an eligible program at an Australian or Online campus as indicated in your Letter of Offer.
  • Not be the beneficiary of a separate University scholarship unless prior approval for special dispensation has been obtained from the university.
  • Meet all of the financial obligations of a full-fee paying international student, including the full tuition fee and other expenses for the purpose of obtaining your student visa, and in the event that eligibility for the scholarship is not maintained.
  • Not be enrolling in an excluded quota program (see selection details).
  • An offshore recent graduate of the University of Newcastle who has completed all program(s) of study listed in a prior letter of offer may also meet eligibility requirements.
